Bright Spring Hair Colours

Bright Spring has one of the broadest variation in hair colour of any season. The colours of this season include light blondes, reds and all shades of brown.

If you want to change your hair colour, always remember to keep it bright and warm. Blondes should be yellowed or a little coppery, definitely not platinum or ashy.

Reds are strawberry blonde or coppery, not auburn. Consider a deep, glossy chocolate if you want to go darker. Natural grey can be very flattering on bright springs.

Always remember the most harmonious look is the one where you keep your natural contrast and your natural features. If you change that, the result is an impactful look (think blonde Sandra Bullock). There is no right or wrong, as long as you are achieving the results you want.

Accessories

  1. Metals

Because your natural colouring is bright, you want to repeat that in your accessories. The best metals for Bright Spring are shiny. Gold, rose gold, white gold, silver and platinum will all work, as long as they are shiny enough.

Avoid antiqued, matte or brushed metals, as they will clash with your natural brigthness and make you look off. Also avoid anything earthy and wood coloured.

Beautiful stones for Bright Spring jewellery include opal, yellow sapphire, topaz, diamond, zirconia, emerald, andesine, citrine, golden beryl, spessarite, sunstone, chalcedony and many colours of swarovski crystals. Faceted stones are better than rounded or raw, because the faceting increases the brilliance of the colour, making them harmonise better with your bright colours.

  1. Sunglasses

Like everything else, bright spring eyewear needs to be bright.

Glasses frames can be any of the metals discussed above, or any colour in the palette. Black frames work beautifully on you and you can also use shining frames and lenses to add a bit of fun.

Avoid tortoise, earthy colours and wood frames because their warmth will clash with your cool appearance.

Make-up

To achieve a harmonious look, you should mimic your natural characteristics and your natural contrast with your make-up. If you want more info on bright spring's features and contrast levels, click here.

  1. Foundation and concealer

If you are a bright spring, your primary colour aspect is the brightness of your features (high chroma) and your secondary aspect is your neutral-warm undertone (hue).

There is no easy way to find your perfect foundation, it really is a matter of trial and error.

However, you should always select foundations and concealers with cool or neutral-warm undertones (yellowish look). Look for natural and peach-based and make sure they have a dewy or satin finish.

Avoid pinkish tones, which have cool undertones and will clash with your naturally warm complexion. Also stay away from matte finishes. If you’re new to all of this, I highly recommend you try the makeup on in-person.

Lots of brands have “W, N, NW, NC, C” on the label, which makes easier to match your undertone.

Its worth mentioning that MAC uses a different method, and it’s the opposite of other brands:

A person with warm undertone would be suited well to an NC foundation whereas a person with cool undertones would be better suited to an NW foundation.

A person with a beige undertone (neutral) would be perfectly suited to an N foundation.

  1. Bronzer & Highlighter

Bronzers can work on Bright Springs, giving you a slightly tanned, fresh out of the beach look. Make sure you go for peachy, yellower bronzing shades (not the dusty ones).

Highlighters will add some shimmer, which works beautifully on you, but steer away from a silver-looking highlighter. Look for the warmer golden tones instead.

  1. Eyeshadows

Neutral eyeshadow colours are the are the creams, champagnes, greys and taupes on the palette. You can also use darker tones for a more dramatic look. If you want to use black, try to go warmer on the lipstick and blush to balance it out (black is a cool colour).

For highlight and accent eyeshadow colours, opt for the brighter, more colourful colours on your palette. Golds, corals and blues are particularly beautiful, and can look surprisingly natural.

When you select eyeshadows, go for creamy consistencies and shimmery finishes.

Avoid cool and icy colours, muddy shades and matte finishes because that will clash with your brightness. Your appearance needs some glow and freshness.

  1. Blushes

Bright Spring blushes inlude a range of coral and pinks. The perfect blush colour will depend on your individual skin tone – and you might need to try a few and find your favourite. Make sure you choose warm, yellow-based colours with a shimmery finish.

Avoid blue-based colours that are too cool for your complexion. And steer clear of dark and dusty colours, which may dull your bright appearance.

  1. Mascara and Eyeliner

Mascara best options for Bright Springs are dark taupe or charcoal. True black is too dark and cool for you, however, if you choose to use it, use warmer and lighter shadows to balance out the coolness.

Eyeliner colours include the dark shades from your palette, such as dark greys, dark blues, purples and greens. If you want to bring out your eyes, choose an eyeliner in a similar colour.

  1. Lipsticks

The best lipstick colours for Bright Spring are intense, including all types of peach, coral and pinks. Go for glossy, shiny finishes to match your natural brightness. Opt for sheer formulations, or apply over lip balm to sheer them out.

Glosses and coloured lip balms are the best options to achieve a natural look. Avoid nude tones as they will look off on you.

Even though these colours may at first glance seem bold, they will look very natural on you because they mimic the intensity of your appearance and match your contrast level.

Avoid matte lipsticks and dark, cool colours - such as burgundy and plum, as they will clash with your complexion.

If you want to look balanced and harmonious, repeat your contrast level. If you want a dramatic effect and an impactful look, going a few shades darker will do the trick.
